An Inspirational Yoga Retreat in Hopi Country, Arizona

Qi-Yo multi-yoga offers a retreat program that immerses participants in different types of yoga heritage and esoteric traditions from around the world. This is a light filled and inspirational opportunity for aspiring teachers and students of yoga. The Qi-Yo multi system approach unites the best of the yoga traditions from the east and the west. Providing an in-depth study of the yoga within the context of the global esoteric heritage, helping students understand the role of spirituality in a constantly fluctuating world.

Qi-Yo Yoga Visit to Hopiland Itinerary

Day 1, 2014:

  • Arrive in Albuquerque
  • Arrivals should be by 15.00 – 16.00
  • Drive from Albuquerque to Grants NM (1.5 – 2 hours drive)
  • Overnight at the Days Inn Grants
  • Have dinner at a local restaurant

Day 2:

  • Get up early to greet the sun / prayers
  • Drive toward Chaco Canyon (1.5 – 2 hours drive)
  • Walk the grounds on your own or with a guide
  • Find spot for meditating
  • Drive to Gallup that afternoon (3 hours drive)
  • Overnight in Gallup at the Hampton Inn includes continental breakfast

Day 3:

  • Get up early to greet the sun / prayers
  • Drive to the Center of the Universe, Hopiland (2 hours drive)
  • There might be a traditional dance so you’ll leave after breakfast
  • Stop at a grocery store for some snacks and some veggie food to cook
  • First night in Hopi
  • Overnight at the Hopi Cultural Center motel for 3 nights

Day 4:

  • Get up early to greet the sun / prayers
  • After breakfast, depart to visit the Petroglyphs
  • Take food for a picnic
  • In the afternoon, you can visit their corn field

Day 5:

  • Get up early to greet the sun / prayers
  • Morning to tour around Hopi
  • In the early afternoon, you meet with Ruben Saufkie
  • Ruben will talk a little bit about Hopi culture and what they believe in
  • Talk will be followed by a traditional dance performance by his children

Day 6:

  • Check out of hotel, have breakfast at the motel
  • Leisure drive to Sedona (about a 3 hours drive)
  • Arrive in Sedona
  • Check-in at the Briar Patch Inn in Oak Creek / Sedona (see briarpatchinn website)
  • The Briar Patch Inn have cabins that have kitchens and that would be a good place to stay so you can cook your veggie meals
  • Rest up a little and visit one of the vortex in the afternoon

Day 7:

  • Have breakfast and go visit another vortex
  • Go back to the inn and refresh
  • Some people may want to explore the shops in Sedona or go hiking

Day 8:

  • Another day to visit a vortex

Day 9:

  • Drive to Phoenix to drop off people for their flights home
  • Flights should be scheduled in the afternoon

Things to do

Payment
30% deposit needs to be paid 45 days prior to your arrival date. Full payment is required 25 days before your arrival date.

Cancellation
Once deposit is submitted, participants can cancel and are not committed to partake, but the deposit will be retained.
